| Creating Alternatives is a day program for adults with a developmental disability. Through the support of dedicated staff, Alternatives offers a variety of in house and community based activities designed to promote independence, increase overall skills and develop healthy peer relationships. Founded by Phyllis Santone, Alternatives mission is to assist individuals with developmental disabilities to integrate meaningfully within their community by providing opportunities to develop vocational, recreational and general life skills. In partnership with Chocolate Concepts, participants of Alternatives have opportunities to work in a dynamic business assisting with the every aspect of production and packaging of fine chocolate products. Participants are also involved in a number of local businesses offering clerical support, assisting with packaging and other light duties. Individuals also have opportunities to volunteer in local long term care centers for seniors and delivering meals with Meals on Wheels. In house programs offered vary and include (but are not limited to) baking and cooking classes, fun and fitness programs and literacy (to name a few). Alternatives is always seeking new community partners who would benefit from some clerical support from our dedicated group of participants or who require assistance with light packaging duties. As well, Alternatives also offers a variety of volunteer opportunities. Contact our office to find out how we can help your business through our Community Connections Program, or how you too can become involved with volunteering in our program.

| The 482 Collective is a registered Canadian charity actively re-imagining how we help people who are bravely struggling to make ends meet after experiencing trauma or abuse. We support women, children and individuals from marginalized communities who have fled intimate partner violence, sexual assault, physical/emotional abuse, and human trafficking. We provide them with timely support of essential items such as food, personal hygiene products, furniture, cleaning supplies, infant gear, clothing and more. Our goal is to alleviate some of the burden caused by repeated trauma, so our clients can think clearly, heal, and begin to rebuild their lives. We do this by taking the time to listen closely to what they need, not what we think they need. We work with individuals, corporations, small business, and community organizations to help remove barriers to access for these resources. | Member Since: 2021
