The McMichael is renowned for exclusively collecting Canadian art, featuring exhibitions by the Group of Seven, First Nations, Inuit, and contemporary artists. The totem pole in the Grand Hall, Where Cultures Meet, was carved specifically by artist Don Yeomans for the McMichael. Outdoor works of art, including those in the new Sculpture Garden, are also part of the collection.

Our permanent collection consists of almost 6,000 artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations, Inuit and other artists who have made a contribution to Canada’s artistic heritage.
 

The gallery was founded by Robert and Signe McMichael, who began collecting paintings by the Group of Seven and their contemporaries in 1955. Learn more about the history of the gallery. More Info

The Sara Elizabeth Centre opened its doors in 2010 in Vaughan to serve youth and young adults with varying disabilities by providing integrated music and arts based programs. It is a community-based and result-oriented organization governed by Blue Veil Charity. It also facilitates retreats with over 3000 students per year.
